I remember the sterling work our ̶C̶o̶l̶o̶u̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶I̶n̶ Marketing Team made last year to make sure our website was compliant with the SRA requirements for price transparency. It makes my blood boil to note so many firms seem to be not be bothered with complying.
Even worse that our regulatory body in the SRA seem as equally as blase about matters.
Law firms provide a service. We can call our customers "clients" if we want to make ourselves sound more impressive, but ultimately we provide a consumer service. Hidden fees are abhorrent to me. If we make everything clear to our customers as best we can, we should have less issues.
The firms who don't comply should be brought to heel. If they cannot be bothered to comply with something legally required by their governing body, what else are they not doing for their customers..?

Only 25% Of Law Firms Are Price And Service Transparent We are six months into the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) regulated changes to the way law firms share their price and service, yet only a quarter of regulated firms are fully compliant with the standards. Worse still, One-in-five regulated law firms have failed to make any effort to comply with price and service regulations. The SRA reviewed a sample of 500 firms’ websites to ascertain how many firms were embracing the standards and regulations which came into force in December 2018.
